George Frideric Handel's iconic Messiah gives us reason enough to gather to sing together. But for this special community sing we have the opportunity also to support Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach in their mission to defeat hunger and homeless and to restore hope.
Messiah Community Sing-Along FAQs
Do I need a ticket? No ticket required! Instead of a price for admission, bring new or lightly used winter hats/gloves/scarfs or monetary donations to Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach are encouraged! This event is FREE and open to all.
What time should I come? Doors will open at 3:00 PM.
Are we singing the entire Messiah? We will be singing Part One (the Christmas section) of the Messiah plus the "Hallelujah" Chorus.
Is there a rehearsal? There is NO rehearsal. It may be helpful to listen to a recording of the choral movements or to plan a rehearsal with some friends!
Are the musical scores provided? Scores will NOT be provided. Please bring music if you have it; any edition of Messiah will work! If you do not have a Messiah score of your own, consider asking to borrow a copy from your church. As another option, you may purchase a score at the door. Dietze Music will be selling scores for $10 beginning at 3:00 p.m. on concert day.
What should I wear? There is no dress code. Be comfortable!
If I don't want to sing, may I attend to listen to the music? While we encourage everyone to participate, no one is required to sing. You may choose to sit within one of the sections to feel a part of the chorus, or you may sit in the balcony to take it all in!
